Digital Paintings by Richard Nickson
What is a Digital Painting?
I use this term to describe a particular form of 2d art. It is digital in the sense that there is no physical “original” piece. In the same sense that there is no original photo in photographic art work. These images are created from a combination of photography, painting, drawing and computer software manipulations of the imagery. The painting may be done by regular acrylic or oil paints, or it may be done on the computer in a paint program. All of the techniques get tied together to produce an “original” file. The file is then output to a printer to create the finished piece on special papers such as canvas, fine art or watercolor paper.
